DESCRIPTION:In 2021\, Gateway Community High opened its doors to Year 9 and
  10 students who will thrive outside the conventional schooling system.  
 Gateway reimagines the middle-high school experience for young people who 
 don’t necessarily fit the standard school system and will thrive in a sm
 aller\, more supportive environment. The school specifically focuses on Y
 ear 9 &amp\;10 students to enable them to complete the Year 10 NSW Record 
 of School Achievement (ROSA)\, and provide a gateway to ongoing education 
 or training\, whether that be Year 11 and 12 or vocational training.\n\nGa
 teway offers an opportunity for students to thrive by gaining a real sense
  of confidence and belonging. Our alternative approaches are unique - our 
 students are expected to be the drivers of their own educational destiny. 
 It’s a place of flexible\, engaging and practical learning where student
 s can reconnect with their learning.\n\nCome along to one of our Open Days
  and see for yourself whether Gateway Community High would be suitable. Th
 ere are several session dates and times to choose from. A presentation and
  tour of the school will take approx 45-60mins::\n\nSat 11 Sep     10:0
 0AM - 2:00PM\nTue 14 Sep     4:00PM - 6:00PM\n​\n\n“We engage stude

 y or numeracy help where necessary\, and build in additional time for stud
 ents to pursue their own interests and projects. We have a strictly no hom
 ework policy and incorporate a healthy exercise program that enhances indi

 nGateway Community High is not a special needs or behavioural school – I
 t’s an alternative high school with tailored support and special assista
 nce dedicated to students who are unique in their own way and who:\n\nWill
  thrive outside a mainstream educational environment\nAre looking for a pl
 ace of belonging and safety\nAre interested in learning and willing to put
  in the effort to succeed\nWould benefit from extra support and attention 
 to re-engage in their education\nMay have missed some language\, literacy 
 or numeracy fundamentals\nAre looking to build their pathway to future Voc
 ational Education Training (VET) or Year 11 and 12 studies.   ​\n\nThe 
 school is an initiative of Macquarie Community College\, which has been pr
 oviding vocational education for adults with barriers to learning  for 70
  years.
