SUMMARY:Introduction to natural soap making
DESCRIPTION:This event requires bookings! Reserve your space here:&nbsp\;ht
 tps://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/introduction-to-natural-soap-making-tickets-
37376283470\n\nIn this 2 hour workshop you will learn how to make your own
chemical-free soap using natural and local ingredients. Homemade soap als
o makes a great personal and cost effective gift.\n\nAs soap is something
we use on a daily basis why not design your own to ensure that you know ex
actly what it is made of! Commercially made soap is often created using un
necessary chemical additives simply to achieve foam\, aroma and colour\, h
owever\, the long-term consequences of using such ingredients are many and
unpleasant.\n\nSoap in its simplest form is a combination of lyes and fat
s/oils which are taken through a process called saponification. You can us
e a range of oils\, natural colourings\, clays and fragrances to ensure th
at the final product is designed to your individual preferences. Find out
how additives such as woodash\, fruit or herbs from your own home or garde
n can be used to create personal and unique blends in the future.\n\nWhat
you'll learn - On the day you will learn the "cold” process of creating
your very own soap using natural ingredients.\n\nTake home - Your own soap
mold\, the knowledge and recipes to make the soaps again and again\, and
your very own soap handcrafted on the day.\n\nAbout the educator - The wor
kshop will be taught by Margaret Mossakowska\, permaculturist\, active Cro
p Swap Sydney member and founder of Moss House.\n\nThe idea of Moss House
grew from her desire to reconnect with her roots\, to wonderful childhood
days spent in rural Poland\, tending her family vegetable garden\, foragin
g for wild herbs and mushrooms and in Autumn preserving hundreds of jars f
ull of Summer harvests. This is when she acquired homesteading skills\, wh
ich she has spent her life cultivating\, both as she raised a family and d
uring years working in the corporate world.\n\nHer passion for healthy\, n
atural living lead her to share her knowledge and skills with others throu
gh workshops that are designed to empower participants and increase their
confidence to live healthier and more sustainable lives.\n\nWhat to bring
 - As we will be working with lyes that can burn if not used correctly\, pl
ease wear protective clothing: enclosed shoes\, apron\, kitchen gloves and
long sleeves. For this reason children under 12 cannot be accommodated on
this workshop.\n\nNatural\, home-made soap is a great alternative for you
r family and is fun and easy to make. Soapmaking truly is a skill worth le
 arning!
