SUMMARY:2017 Granny Smith Festival\, Eastwood
DESCRIPTION:The annual Granny Smith Festival celebrates the life and legacy
of one of our district’s most famous citizens\, Maria Ann Smith - aka G
ranny Smith - who\, back in 1868\, ‘accidentally’ grew the first batch
of little green apples that bear her name and are now grown all over the
world.\n\nThe Granny Smith Festival began in 1985 and is now regarded as o
ne of Sydney’s largest street festivals\, a true community carnival\, fu
ll of colour and good old fashioned fun.\n\nIt is supported by local busin
esses\, sporting and service organisations\, churches\, schools and the wi
 der community.&nbsp\;The festival attracts around&nbsp\;80\,000 visitors t
o Eastwood. It is a chance for the people and businesses of the City of Ry
de to come together and celebrate the history and culture of the area.\n\n
