DESCRIPTION:Sydney's most beloved Italian street festival is back and bigge
 r than ever in 2019!\n\nFerragosto is the City of Canada Bay's largest ann
 ual event\, last year attracting a bumper crowd of close to 110\,000 visit
 ors to Five Dock - a suburb with strong Italian links.\n\nThis year\, Ferr
 agosto will be held on Sunday\, 18 August on Great North Road\, Five Dock 
 from 10am to 4pm.\n\nExplore the best of Italian culture\, entertainment a
 nd cooking with more than 300 retailers and food and merchandise stalls of
 fering delicious street eats and handcrafted goods. There will be spectacu
 lar dance and music performances across five stages\, along with free amus
 ement rides.\n\nThere will be children's activities\, fun competitions\, f
 ashion shows\, and dazzling displays of Italian vehicles including Mini Fi
 ats\, Ducati bikes\, Alfa Romeos plus more.\n\nFeel free to share this pag

 t of history...\n\nFerragosto began in 1998 as an initiative of Five Dock
 ’s Main Street Committee. The event was originally held in the Garfield 
 Street car park for the first few years but as it grew\, it moved to Great
  North Road. It has now expanded from Queens Road to Lyons Road – approx
 imately 800 metres in length plus most side streets. As the demand\, size 
 and costs of the event increased\, so did Council's involvement.\n\nThe fe
 stival preserves its roots in the strongly-Italian local community\, with 
 considerable support and interest from local businesses\, entertainers\, c
 ommunity organisations and residents. The event draws a mixed crowd with c
 lose to 60 per cent of attendees coming from the City of Canada Bay and th
 e rest from the broader Sydney area. The crowd demographics are mixed with
  all age groups represented and a broad cross section of cultures.
