Noticing some early signs?
You know your child best. If something feels different, it’s worth exploring.
Early support can make a real difference.
Many parents start to notice small differences in their child’s communication, play or coordination during the toddler years. You may be wondering if they need extra help
Families contact us because they have started to notice small differences in their child’s development. These concerns often appear gradually and can look different for every child.
If something doesn’t feel quite right, early support can make a meaningful difference.
Parents may notice things such as:
- Limited speech or delayed language development
• Reduced eye contact or not responding to their name
• Difficulty engaging with toys or sustaining play
• Preferring to play alone rather than with other children
• Not initiating play, sharing or taking turns
• Difficulty following simple instructions
• Appearing wobbly, clumsy or unsure when moving
• Avoiding climbing, jumping or playground equipment
• Frequently bumping into objects or people
• Challenges with attention, sitting or focusing on activities
• Becoming easily frustrated when trying to communicate needs
These signs do not always mean a child has autism or a developmental disorder, but they can indicate that extra support may help strengthen important developmental skills.
At Links to Life in Ryde, our multidisciplinary team of Behaviour Therapists and an Occupational Therapist work together to understand each child’s unique strengths and challenges.
By combining expertise in behaviour therapy and occupational therapy, we help children build the foundation skills needed for communication, play, coordination, emotional regulation and learning.
Early support can make a significant difference — helping children develop the skills they need to participate more confidently at home, in early learning and as they prepare for school.
If you are noticing some of these signs in your child, our team in Ryde is here to support you.
